Hello, my name is Jenny, and I am a Provisional Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I also completed a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Regina and a Bachelor of Arts at University of Saskatchewan. During my work in human service, I worked with children, youth, families, individuals with intellectual disabilities and seniors. This included one-on-one counselling, school, residential care, childcare, and long-term care. I am committed to providing a safe and welcoming space for clients to achieve their counselling goals and am an LGBTQ+ ally.

I strongly believe that clients are the experts in their own lives. I take an empowering, client-centered approach rather than a directive one, supporting individuals as they navigate challenges in ways that feel authentic to them. My role is to provide guidance and encouragement while helping clients build the skills and confidence needed to make decisions that align positively with their lives.

I still remember the first psychology course I took in my first year

of university – I knew right away that this was the path for me. I have always been curious about why people think, feel, and behave
the way they do. My own mental health experiences and challenges further drew me toward helping others, while also deepening my understanding of myself. In many ways, each client I work with continues to teach me something new, allowing for ongoing growth and reflection in both my personal and professional life.

Through counsellor education and training, I am seeking to build a foundation of cultural knowledge; however, I also see the importance of engaging in ongoing self-growth and reflective practices. I strive to participate in multicultural groups and seek diverse perspectives to deepen my understanding of working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. I am also becoming more aware of how my own cultural background and life experiences have shaped my values, beliefs, and behaviours. This self-awareness is important, as it helps me reflect on how these factors may influence my interactions with clients and the therapeutic process. I am committed to self-reflection, openness, and learning from those I work with.
