Hello, my name is Tessa, and I am a Provisional Psychologist with an MA in Counselling Psychology. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta.
I have experience working with children, youth, and adults, and began my career providing support for children with developmental disabilities and their families before pivoting to counselling therapy for all ages.
You might be feeling stretched thin; trying to be patient, understanding, and strong for everyone else while wondering why it feels so hard to hold everything together. Maybe you’re navigating family or social changes or you’re noticing old patterns resurfacing in your relationships. You may feel disconnected from yourself, uncertain about your role, or overwhelmed by emotions you can’t quite name. Whether you’re a parent longing to feel more attuned to your child, a teen struggling to understand yourself, or someone trying to rebuild self-trust, you want to feel more grounded, connected, and confident in your relationships.
Early sessions focus on building a comfortable and safe relationship where you can show up as you are. Together, through reflective and experiential means, we will explore your life experiences with curiosity; understanding where your beliefs come from and what emotional learnings may have shaped them.
I am committed to being a life-long learner and am eager to grow alongside my clients. I strive to create a collaborative relationship where we can find equal footing and create meaningful change. My work is rooted in values of authenticity, inclusivity, and respect for autonomy. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you don’t have to perform or somehow get it together before you arrive. I aim to create an environment where you can show up as you are and be met with curiosity and respect rather than judgment. Through a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive lens, I hope to understand the complexities of your life and provide you with a supportive space to explore your experiences.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and flexible, grounded in the idea that there’s no single “right” way to navigate being a human. Alongside building insight, I incorporate experiential processing to help work through patterns that feel stuck or confusing; creating space for shifts that go beyond just talking things through.
I bring warmth, curiosity, and authenticity into my work, meeting you where you are and walking alongside you as you move toward lasting change. If you’re ready to begin, I invite you to book a free consultation; a chance to connect, ask questions, and see if this feels like the right fit for you. Together, we focus on changes that feel meaningful, supportive, and aligned with what matters most to you.
Being culturally competent, for me, is about staying open, curious, and willing to learn. It means recognizing that people’s experiences are shaped by culture, identity, and systems and that I don’t get to assume I understand those just because I’m well-intentioned. Instead, I aim to listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and let each person define what matters to them. It’s about inclusivity in action where people can feel respected and seen. And when I inevitably miss something? I try to own it, repair it, and keep going. Turns out, that’s part of the work too.
