Hello, my name is Melissa. I am a Counselling Therapist with the Alberta Counselling Therapy Association and the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. I earned a Master of Science in Psychology at Liverpool University and have over a decade of experience in community and government settings. I have dedicated my career to supporting vulnerable, marginalized, and diverse populations. I transitioned to private practice in 2018 to provide personalized care to individuals and families. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and am a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

I tailor treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each individual and work with them to reach their therapeutic goals. By creating a safe and supportive environment, I empower my clients to focus on their goals and achieve positive outcomes. Drawing upon evidence-based interventions, I tailor treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each individual. I believe in the inherent capacity of every person to live a fulfilling life and reach their full potential. I also offer in-person dog-assisted therapy with my trained therapy dog,

Roxy, for added comfort and engagement! Roxy is there to provide a calming comfort that makes talking about the tough stuff a little bit easier. Science says simply petting a dog lowers the body’s stress response, improves mood, and increases connection and engagement in the counselling room.

I was first drawn to the field of psychology during my undergraduate degree when one of my professors presented as someone in escalated mental distress. I realized how many people I knew within my own life were experiencing some type of mental health concern and wanted to be able to support them.
